when it is sunny and we are trying to look at something and the sun is blocking the view we cover our face with our hands. that is what a lens hood does. they stop the flare of sunlight getting in the camera and making your picture unclear and having a flare

Without With
Wide angle lensA wide angle lens in the type of lens you would want to use if you are doing landscape photography. It gives you a wider view compared to what a standard lens gives you. It has a focal length of 8mm to 28mm. A disadvantage of it is that it can give you distortions if you use it in the wrong scenario
Fish eye lens
A fish eye lens is an extreme wide angle lens that distorts your image a lot but people like to use that to their advantage. It can be good to get a good picture of a firework display but the downside is, is that it is very expensive.
Prime lens
The prime lens has a very low aperture which means it has a F number and a big hole, it will blur the background. It is a good lens for Location portrait photography. You can not zoom in and out as it has a fixed focal length so if you want to get closer to something you have to physically move.
Telephoto LensTelephoto lens' are able to zoom in a long way, over 50mm. They are mainly used for capturing wildlife and sport. To get a good picture you should try and fill the frame, the quality of the picture will be a lot better.
Macro LensThe macro lens is used for for very close up images. You can get up to 2cm away from the subject and get a very detailed picture of it. It zooms into 60-90 mm, the more zoomed in it is the bigger the picture will be and make it look more life sized.
